This afternoon we continue our journey through India focusing purely on vegetarian dishes, very popular right across the continent. These small dishes make excellent appetizers and sides to any Indian meal.
Sample dishes
• Dahi Puri- Crispy pastry puffs filled with potatoes, chickpeas, spicy yoghurt, noodles and topped with chutney ¶
• Pav Bhaji – popular dish from Mumbai – vegetables cooked with onions, tomatoes and a special masala
• Bateda Vada – Balls of spicy mashed potato dipped in a chickpea flour batter and fried
• Date and tamarind chutney
